Rennes, 7th student city outside Ile-de-France !
Rennes has 425 745 inhabitants. With over 63 000 students in 2013, Rennes is the 7th student city outside Ile-de-France, and is preceding Grenoble, Strasbourg and Nantes (according the website of the city). According “L’Etudiant magazine” it is ranked fifth in the standings. Its main strengths are the education provision (universities, business schools, Med school, Sciences Po, Centrale Supelec ...), leisure activities, environment and employment.
The city sets up cultural events in its many infrastructures: the Champs Libres (innovative cultural center which includes several structures: the British Museum, “l’Espace des Sciences”, the Metropolis Library), events and debates in the conference hall, the Ecomuseum, exhibitions, tours, festivals and concerts.
Concerning the student activities, the university often hosts festive events (giant picnic for example) and the city offers many activities and pleasant areas where you can meet with your friends as Thabord park (beautiful central park), St. Anne Square (Abbey and pedestrian area, perfect for strolling and shopping) and the Lices market (huge market of 300 producers).
You will also enjoy exploring the heritage and visit La Chapelle Saint-Yves, Saint Peter's Cathedral, Mordelaises Doors, the Britain Parliament, or the Museum of Fine Arts.
Sports enthusiasts will enjoy the many facilities available (municipal swimming pools and tennis courts, basketball, handball and soccer courts, skating and BMX trails, Apigné water sports area, tree climbing park ...) .
